The Tackle Box

This months entry is one of the most overlooked items in the fisherman's boat, a landing net. Many tournaments have been won and lost due to the net, lack of net or net job. To me the net is as important as sharp hooks or super strong line. I often see anglers trying to net big bass with little trout nets. Netting a big bass with a tiny net is like bringing a bb gun to a gun fight. On a recent outing I toured the Loki Net Company with some friends. I was like a kid in a candy store. So many sizes and shapes to choose from. At the end of our tour I asked the owner if it was possible to custom build the ultimate net for me. He agreed and we came up with a net that is the right size and will last for years. David Stair from Loki Nets is a true pioneer in building quality landing nets. Loki has been in business since 1965 and prides themselves with making their products in the U.S.A.. Loki Nets are practical and most of all durable.

There are two nets that I will suggest as the ultimate tool for landing bass:

The first net choice is TECH7SHF with the double telescope handle. This net will store easily in most bass boats and is great for average size tournament fish.

The second net is the TECH8SHF for larger tournament bass on lakes like Amistad and Clear Lake. The 8 series net is the ultimate net for landing big bass. This net is big but it could make the difference when scooping up trophies.
