About Big Fred

Fred Contaoi - Professional angler

Fred has made his living in the outdoors since an early age. He spent all of his childhood in the outdoors fishing, hunting, gardening and raising animals. Starting in high school Fred began working in Alaska as a guide, commercial fishing off the Northern California coast, and guiding his home waters in Northern California. After college Fred began to travel the world working in fishing tourism, and sporting goods design and manufacture. To date Fred has fished and worked in 42 countries making him one of the worlds foremost traveled fisherman. Fred is a prolific writer and the co-author (with JD Richey) of SIDE DRIFTING FOR STEELHEAD, FRANK AMATO PUBLICATIONS. His leadership skills make him easy to get along with, informative, and fun to talk with. Fred has guided countless anglers over twenty three years. Guide clients such as John Elway, Norman Swartskopf, and the late Billy Martin relied on Fred to out them on the fish. Currently Fred is a professional bass angler on the FLW Tour.
